Arriving at the Summit: Day Five
Day 5: Ambassadors of Blessing
Devotional
The blessing we receive from God is far too good to keep to ourselves. Like a mountain spring that flows downward to nourish the valleys below, God's blessing is meant to flow through us to others. In the final verse of Psalm 134, the blessing comes "from Zion"—the place where God dwells with His people. For ancient Israelites, this referred to the temple in Jerusalem. But Hebrews 12 reveals that through faith, we have come to a greater Zion—to Jesus Himself, the mediator of a new covenant. Zion is no longer a physical location but a spiritual reality centered in Christ. This means the blessing of God's presence isn't confined to a building or a mountain. It travels with us wherever we go because Christ lives in us. We become, as 2 Corinthians 5:20 says, "ambassadors for Christ." An ambassador represents their home country in foreign territory. Similarly, we represent Zion—God's kingdom—in this world. We carry His blessing with us into our workplaces, neighborhoods, and relationships. When we share our faith with others, we're extending God's blessing beyond ourselves. Remarkably, this doesn't diminish our own experience of blessing—it enhances it. There's a unique joy in being a conduit of God's goodness to others. Today, see yourself as an ambassador of Zion, carrying God's blessing wherever you go. Look for opportunities to extend this blessing to others through your words, actions, and witness.
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.
We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
- 2 Corinthians 5:20
