Because He Lives: Day 1
Day 1: The Question That Haunts Us
Devotional
Deep down, most of us wrestle with a fundamental question: Am I really okay with God? This uncertainty drives us to endless striving, trying to prove our worth through good deeds, perfect behavior, or religious activities. We live in fear of being exposed, constantly managing how others see us, wondering if we've done enough to earn God's approval. This restless pursuit of acceptance reveals something profound about the human heart - we were created for a relationship with God, and when that relationship feels uncertain, everything else feels unstable. The weight of this question affects how we approach relationships, work, and even our own self-worth. But here's the beautiful truth: God doesn't want you to live in this uncertainty. He hasn't left you to wonder about your standing with Him. The very fact that this question burns within you is evidence that you were made for something more than endless striving and fear.
who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.
- Romans 4:25
Reflection Question
What areas of your life reveal that you're still trying to earn approval rather than resting in God's acceptance?
“Before that moment, my whole life was built on trying to earn approval, striving,
trying to manage how people saw me, trying to prove that I was enough.”
— Pastor Mike Mura
Prayer
God, I confess that I often live as if I need to earn Your love. Help me to see that You've already provided everything I need to be right with You.
