Day 3: The Empty Tomb: God's Receipt

Devotional
Three days after Jesus died, something unimaginable happened - the tomb was empty. This wasn't just a nice ending to a tragic story; it was God's receipt, proving that the payment for sin was accepted in full. The resurrection is the divine stamp of approval on Jesus' sacrifice. When God raised Jesus from the dead, He was declaring to the universe that the debt was paid, the penalty was satisfied, and the way to a relationship with Him was now open. The empty tomb answers our deepest question: How do I know I'm right with God? Answer: Because the tomb is empty. If Jesus had stayed dead, we would still be left wondering if our sins were truly forgiven. We'd still be hoping, still be unsure, still be trying to add our own efforts to His sacrifice. But He didn't stay dead. He rose, and in His resurrection, we find the certainty our hearts desperately need.

For if we have been united with him in a death like his,
we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
- Romans 6:5

Reflection Question
What difference does it make to know that God has given you proof, not just promises, that you're forgiven?

“The empty tomb is the answer to my question, how do I know that I'm right with God? Because the tomb is empty.” — Pastor Mike Mura

Prayer
Father, thank You for the empty tomb that proves Your acceptance of Jesus' sacrifice. Help me to live in the confidence this truth provides.
