Day 2: When Christ Opens Your Eyes‍ ‍

Devotional
Paul thought he was serving God through his religious zeal, but he was actually living in spiritual darkness. It took a dramatic encounter with the risen Christ to open his eyes to the truth. Like Paul, many of us can be sincere in our beliefs yet sincerely wrong about our spiritual condition. We might think our good works, church attendance, or moral behavior makes us right with God, but these efforts can actually keep us from seeing our true need. Paul discovered that all his religious striving would never be enough - it was only an attempt to find rest for his soul apart from God. The moment Christ opened Paul's eyes, everything changed. He could finally see that he had been under Satan's power, living in darkness despite all his religious activity. This wasn't about Paul becoming more religious or trying harder; it was about receiving a completely new perspective on reality. Every genuine conversion involves this same kind of encounter with the risen Christ. He must open our eyes to see our true condition and His perfect solution. When this happens, we stop depending on our own efforts and start resting in what Christ has already done for us.

I am sending youto open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light
and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins
and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ - Acts 26:17-18

Reflection Question
What religious activities or good works have you been depending on instead of trusting completely in Christ's finished work?

“Every conversion involves an encounter with the risen Christ who must open your eyes.”
— Pastor Mike Mura

Prayer
Jesus, open my eyes to see any areas where I'm still trying to earn Your favor through my own efforts. Help me rest completely in what You've already accomplished.
