Day 5: A Life That Counts

Devotional
In our social media age, it's easy to measure significance by followers, influence, or platform size. We can fall into thinking that to make a difference, we need to be known by many. But the Gospel flips this thinking upside down. The lives that truly count aren't necessarily the famous ones—they're the faithful ones. The people who quietly live out their commitment to Christ day after day, loving their neighbors, serving the vulnerable, speaking truth, and pointing others to Jesus. The early Christians who "turned the world upside down" weren't celebrities. Most were ordinary people whose names we'll never know. What made them extraordinary was their willingness to let the Gospel transform them from the inside out and then to share that transformation with others. This is the beautiful truth of the Gospel—God uses ordinary people to accomplish His extraordinary purposes. You don't need a platform; you need faithfulness. You don't need fame; you need love. You don't need wealth or power; you need the Gospel working in and through you. When we surrender to Jesus as King, He uses us right where we are to advance His kingdom. And the impact of a life lived for Christ will far outlast any earthly acclaim.

Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica,
where there was a synagogue of the Jews.

And Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead,
and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.” - Acts 17:1-3

Reflection Question
In what specific ways is God calling you to be faithful right where you are, and how might these seemingly small acts of obedience have an eternal impact?

“You don't need a stadium full of people to live a life that counts.
You don't need to be famous or wealthy or powerful to leave a mark that outlasts you.
What you need is the Gospel of Jesus Christ at work in you and through you.”
— Pastor Mike Mura

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You that You don't require me to be famous or influential by the world's standards to make a difference for Your kingdom. Help me to be faithful in the small things, to love well those You've placed in my path, and to find my significance in serving You rather than in being seen by others. May my life count for eternity because it counts for Christ. Amen.
