The Kind of People God Uses: Day One

Day 1: Faithful Over Flashy

Devotional
In a world obsessed with viral moments and overnight success, it's easy to believe that God only uses people with massive platforms and impressive credentials. We scroll through social media seeing influential pastors, bestselling authors, and conference speakers, thinking that's how God's kingdom really advances. But what if we've got it backwards? Paul's ministry in Acts 18 challenges our assumptions. When doors opened wide in Ephesus and people begged him to stay longer, he chose obedience over opportunity. He didn't chase the bigger platform or the more impressive results. Instead, he trusted God's timing and direction, even when it meant leaving something good behind. This reveals a profound truth: God isn't looking for the most talented or the loudest voices. He's looking for hearts that beat in rhythm with His will. Paul understood that he wasn't the CEO of his ministry but a servant of the King. And servants go where their Master sends them, regardless of how it looks on paper. Your faithfulness in the ordinary moments matters more than you realize. The way you serve in your local church, love your family, and show kindness to your neighbors is kingdom work. God doesn't need you to have a platform to use you powerfully. He needs you to have a heart that says 'yes' to His leading, even when it doesn't make sense to others. The God who used Luther to shake the church in Europe can use you to shape a soul, a family, a child, a neighbor, a coworker, and a classmate. Your ordinary faithfulness is never wasted in God's economy.

He has told you, O man, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God? - Micah 6:8

Reflection Question
What 'good opportunities' might God be asking you to leave behind in order to follow His greater call for your life?

“God's kingdom advances through faithful, loving and humble disciples.
Not just the loudest voice, not just the biggest personality,
not just the person with the most impressive resume or platform.” -Pastor Mike Mura

Prayer
Lord, help me to value faithfulness over flashiness. Give me the courage to follow Your leading even when it means leaving behind what seems like a good opportunity. Make my heart sensitive to Your will rather than impressed by worldly success. Amen.
