Day 1: Looking Beyond the Hills

Devotional
When faced with challenges, our natural instinct is often to look to the most obvious solutions - our resources, abilities, or support systems. These are like the hills that ancient travelers saw - appearing both threatening and promising. But just as those hills couldn't truly provide the help needed, our earthly solutions often fall short. We need to learn to look beyond what's immediately visible to the One who created it all.

I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. - Psalm 121:1-2

Reflection Question
What 'hills' are you currently looking to for help instead of looking to God?

“Whatever it is, Psalm 121 reminds you that your help does not come from the hills.
Not from success, not from control, not from clever planning,
not from people who love you and mean well but can't carry the load.
Your help doesn't come from the hills. It comes from the Lord and the Maker of those hills -
the Maker of heaven and earth.”
~Pastor Mike Mura

Prayer
Lord, help me lift my eyes beyond my circumstances to see You, the Creator of all things. Teach me to trust in Your power rather than earthly solutions. Amen.
