Day 2: Good News, Not Good Advice

Think about the last time someone gave you really good advice. Maybe it was helpful for a season. But advice, no matter how wise, can only take you so far. It tells you what to do. It cannot give you the power to actually do it. That is the difference between good advice and good news. When Paul brought the gospel to the early churches, he was not handing out a self-improvement plan. He was announcing something that had already happened. Jesus lived the life we could not live. He died the death we deserved. He rose again, defeating sin and death once and for all. That is not advice. That is news. And it changes everything. Abraham understood this long before the law was ever given. He simply believed what God said, and God counted that faith as righteousness. Abraham did not earn it. He received it. That is the pattern God has always used. So when you open your Bible or sit in a church pew, you are not there to collect a new list of things to do. You are there to hear, again, what Jesus has already done for you. That news, received with fresh faith, is what actually produces change in your heart. You do not need better advice today. You need to hear the good news one more time and let it sink a little deeper.

When you engage with Scripture or worship, are you primarily looking for instructions to follow, or are you looking for a fresh encounter with what Jesus has already done for you?

Prayer
Father, thank You for giving me good news instead of just good advice. Open my heart to receive the gospel not as a checklist but as the living announcement of what Your Son has done for me. Let that news go deeper in me today.
