Day 2: He Provides Because He Is Good

Have you ever felt spiritually empty? Like you have been running on fumes, going through the motions, but something deep inside feels dry and worn down? David knew that feeling. And he also knew where to go when it hit. In Psalm 23, David describes God leading Him to green pastures and still waters, restoring His soul. This is not a picture of a life with no hard days. It is a picture of a shepherd who knows exactly what His sheep need and provides it, even when the sheep have done nothing to deserve it. That last part matters more than we often realize. God does not provide for you because you have been consistent enough, faithful enough, or good enough. He provides because that is who He is. His generosity flows from His character, not your performance. This is genuinely good news, especially on the days when you feel like you have wandered too far or fallen too short. God is not withholding His care until you clean yourself up. He is already moving toward you, ready to restore what has been lost and refresh what has grown weary. If your soul feels dry today, you do not have to earn your way back to green pastures. You simply need to return to the shepherd who has been waiting to lead you there all along. His provision is an act of grace, and grace, by definition, is never something you earn.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

Father, thank You that Your provision is rooted in Your goodness and not my perfection. Restore my soul today, and help me to trust that Your grace is always enough. Ame
