The church in Philippi was a beautiful picture of gospel unity, bringing together people from vastly different backgrounds—a wealthy businesswoman, a freed slave girl, and a Roman jailer with his family. This unity was possible because of the hope of Jesus Christ. The only power strong enough to bring lasting unity is the hope of Jesus Christ. In a world that is often divided by class, race, and other differences, the gospel creates a new community where all are one in Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female,
for you are all one in Christ Jesus. — Galatians 3:28

Lord, thank You for the unity we have in Christ. Help me to contribute to the unity of the body of Christ in my community. May we be a testimony to the world of the power of the gospel to bring people together. Amen.
