Hope That Cannot Be Silenced: Day Four

Day 4: Singing in the Dark

Devotional
Paul and Silas sang hymns to God at midnight, even while they were in chains. Their worship was a powerful testimony to their faith and freedom in Christ. They knew that they had already been set free from the most cruel master they could ever know—their own sin. This story encourages us to keep singing in the dark, to keep standing on truth with courage, and to keep loving and forgiving even our enemies. When we do this, we show the world that we are truly free in Christ.

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,
and hope does not put us to shame,
because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
— Romans 5:3-5

Reflection Question
How can you find a reason to sing and rejoice even in your darkest moments?

“Because hope sang in that dungeon, it can sing in your heart, too.
Even in the face of horrific evil, if Christ has set you free, then you will always have a reason to sing.”
— Pastor Mike Mura

Prayer
Father, help me to sing and rejoice even in my darkest moments. Fill my heart with Your love and give me the strength to stand on Your truth with courage. Amen.
