Day 5: Living From Rest, Not For It

Devotional
There's a profound difference between living for rest and living from rest. Most people spend their entire lives chasing the next weekend, the next vacation, the next achievement that will finally allow them to breathe. But followers of Christ have been invited into something revolutionary: living from the rest that Jesus has already secured. When you understand that your worth is settled, your sins are forgiven, and your place in God's family is secure, you can approach each day from a position of peace rather than panic. This doesn't mean life becomes easy or that challenges disappear. You'll still face difficult seasons, health struggles, and moments of grief. But God promises something better than making it feel like soaring - He promises you will not collapse. You'll find strength to put one foot in front of the other, not because you're trying harder, but because you're drawing from a source that never runs dry. The world will continue to whisper that the next promotion, achievement, or bit of approval will finally be enough. Don't believe it. You were not made to spend your life proving your existence is justified. In Christ, you don't have to. The verdict is already in, the work is finished, and the welcome is yours. So go into this weary world and live from rest, never again striving for what you already possess.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
- Matthew 11:28-30

Reflection Question
What practical steps can you take today to live from the rest Christ has given you rather than striving to earn it?

“So go out into that weary world and for the rest of your lives live from rest.
And never again for it.” — Pastor Mike Mura

Prayer
Lord, teach me to live from the rest You've provided rather than constantly striving for what I already have in You. Help me walk in the freedom of Your finished work.
