Day 5: Open Hands

After four days of looking at the weight of the law, the reality of the curse, and the stunning sacrifice of Christ, we arrive at the simplest and most important truth of all: faith. Not faith as a religious achievement. Not faith as a feeling you have to manufacture. Faith as open hands. Receiving what Christ has already finished. Here is something worth sitting with: even after years of walking with God, the pull to add something to your faith never fully goes away. The temptation to believe that your obedience, your church attendance, your moral record somehow moves the needle on how God sees you is relentless. If seasoned believers feel it, you can be sure you feel it too. But the gospel keeps calling you back. Back to the simplicity of trusting Christ. Back to receiving rather than achieving. Back to open hands instead of clenched fists. And here is the beautiful part: when you stop striving to earn what Christ has already given, the Spirit goes to work from the inside out. Not producing performance, but transformation. The desire and power to live for God become gifts, not obligations. You don't have to carry what Christ already carried. Come back to faith. He is enough.

Reflection Question
Where in your life right now are you holding clenched fists toward God, striving to earn something He has already freely given you through Christ?

Prayer
Lord, help me to come back to the simplicity of faith. Loosen my grip on my own striving, and fill me with Your Spirit so that I live for You from the inside out, not out of obligation, but out of gratitude. Amen.
