Day 4: The Great Exchange
Devotional
There is a transaction at the center of the gospel that changes everything. It is not complicated, but it is almost too good to believe. Jesus took what we deserve: the curse, the condemnation, the separation from God. And in return, we receive what He deserves: the blessing, the righteousness, the full acceptance of the Father. He took our curse so we could receive His blessing. He took our death so we could receive His life. That is the great exchange. What the Roman soldiers saw as execution, what the crowd saw as shame, and what the disciples saw as defeat was actually the moment everything changed. God's judgment against sin was fully satisfied. The curse was absorbed. And the blessing of Abraham, the promise of life and favor with God, was thrown open to everyone who believes. This means you don't come to God carrying your record. You come carrying His. You don't stand before the Father hoping your good days outweigh your bad ones. You stand in the righteousness of Christ, fully accepted, not because of anything you have done, but because of everything He has done. That is not just good news. That is the best news you will ever hear.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written,
“Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree” - Galatians 3:13
Reflection Question
If you truly believed that God sees you through the righteousness of Christ and not through your own record, how would that change the way you approach Him today?

Prayer
Father, thank You for the great exchange. Help me to stand confidently in the righteousness of Christ rather than in my own performance. Remind me daily that I am fully accepted because of Him. Amen.
