Day 3: He Didn't Stay at a Safe Distance

Think about the people you admire most. The ones who show up when things get hard. Not the ones who send a text from across town, but the ones who walk through the door and sit with you in the mess. Jesus is that kind of Savior, only infinitely more so. When the curse of the law stood against us, Jesus didn't rescue us from a safe distance. He stepped directly into it. He absorbed every bit of what we deserved. The cross wasn't just a tragic execution or a moment of public shame. It was the moment God's full judgment against sin landed on the only One who never deserved it. God made Him who knew no sin to become sin for us. That is not a small thing. That is the most costly act of love in all of history. And here is what makes it even more staggering: He did it willingly. He looked at guilty people who deserved the curse, and He paid to set them free anyway. Not because we earned it. Not because we were worth it on our own. But because that is who He is. You are not loved because you are good enough. You are loved because He is that good.
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin,
so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. - 2 Corinthians 5:21

How does knowing that Jesus stepped into the curse rather than watching from a distance change the way you think about His love for you personally?

Prayer
Jesus, thank You for not staying at a safe distance. Thank You for stepping into what I deserved so I could receive what You deserve. Help me never to take that exchange for granted. Amen.
