Day 2: Two Paths, One Choice

Imagine standing at a fork in the road. One path says, "Trust and receive." The other says, "Do and earn." They look like they might eventually meet up somewhere down the road, but they don't. They lead to completely different destinations. This is exactly what Paul lays out in Galatians 3. Faith and law-keeping are not two lanes of the same highway. They are two entirely different roads, and you cannot walk both at the same time. The law path demands perfection. Not a passing grade. Not your best effort. Perfection. One failure triggers the curse. And since every one of us has failed, the law path leads to a dead end for all of us. Faith, on the other hand, says something radically different. It says stop striving and start receiving. It says the work has already been done, and your job is to trust the One who did it. This isn't a passive or weak posture. Trusting Christ fully, releasing your grip on your own record, takes real humility. But it is the only path that leads to life. You don't have to earn what God is offering. You simply have to receive it.
For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” - Galatians 3:10
Reflection Question
Which path do you find yourself defaulting to when life gets hard: trusting Christ's finished work, or quietly trying to earn your way back into God's good graces?

Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the times I've tried to walk both roads at once. Give me the humility to release my grip and trust fully in what Christ has already done. Amen.
