Real Belonging Day 2

Day 2: The Power of Brokenness

Life often feels like walking into a movie late, leaving us living according to limited narratives shaped by past experiences and hurts. These small stories keep us focused on ourselves, our control, and our abilities, often rooted in pain or fear. God's larger story reveals how He works through His church to accomplish His purposes. Moving from our small stories to God's grand narrative involves recognizing broken narratives, embracing vulnerability, experiencing God's love through His people, and letting go of control. Through this journey, we can find our place in God's greater purpose and understand our true identity as His chosen people.

Devotional

Often, we resist showing our brokenness, thinking it makes us weak or unworthy. Yet, paradoxically, acknowledging our brokenness before God becomes the very pathway to experiencing His power and grace. When we stop trying to maintain a facade of perfection and admit our need for God, we create space for His transformative work in our lives. Our vulnerability becomes the doorway through which God's strength enters.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
- James 5:16

Reflection Question

In what areas of your life are you trying to maintain control rather than surrendering to God's transformative work?

Poverty of spirit drew me into God's kingdom.
It wasn't that I wasn't saved.
It wasn't that I didn't have a saving faith. I couldn't do mission until I got to brokenness,
until I got to poverty.

Prayer

Lord, give me the courage to be vulnerable before You and others. Help me understand that my brokenness isn't a barrier to Your love but a bridge to experiencing Your grace. Amen.
