Day 3: An Invitation for Everyone

Devotional
One of the most beautiful aspects of Solomon's Temple dedication was its radical inclusiveness. This wasn't just a place for kings and priests—it was an invitation extended to ordinary people, foreigners, and anyone who would call upon God's name. Solomon's prayer revealed God's heart: His house was to be a house of prayer for all nations. Perhaps you've felt like you're on the outside looking in when it comes to faith. Maybe you think you're not religious enough, not good enough, or too far gone for God to care about you. The Temple's message challenges every one of these lies. God's invitation isn't based on your background, your performance, or your spiritual resume—it's based on His character. The same God who welcomed foreign kings and common laborers to His Temple welcomes you today. Your prayers aren't too small for His attention. Your sins aren't too great for His forgiveness. Your distance isn't too far for His reach. The invitation that echoed through the Temple courts still echoes today: "Come." This inclusiveness isn't about lowering standards—it's about recognizing that the standard has already been met by someone else. The Temple required sacrifice, pointing to the costly nature of atonement. But the invitation remained open to all who would come in faith, trusting not in their own worthiness but in God's provision.

And listen to the pleas of your servant and of your people Israel, when they pray toward this place.
And listen from heaven your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive. - 2 Chronicles 6:21

Reflection Question
What lies have you believed about not being 'enough' for God, and how does His inclusive invitation challenge those beliefs?

“Your prayers are not too small. Your sins are not too great. Your distance is not too far.”
- Pastor Mike Mura

Prayer
Father, thank You that Your invitation is for everyone, including me. Help me to silence the voices that tell me I'm not worthy and to hear Your voice calling me to come just as I am. Thank You for Your gracious heart toward all who call upon You.
