Day 1: A Promise That Cannot Be Broken

Have you ever made a promise you weren't sure you could keep? Most of us have. Life gets complicated, circumstances change, and even our best intentions fall short. That's what makes God's promise to Abraham so extraordinary. It doesn't depend on circumstances. It doesn't depend on us. In Galatians 3, Paul reminds us that God made a covenant with Abraham long before the law ever existed. He promised to bless all nations through Abraham's offspring, and that promise was sealed by God Himself. Not by Abraham's performance. Not by ours. This is the foundation of everything. Before God ever gave the law, He made a promise. And that promise has seniority over everything that came after it. When doubt creeps in and you wonder whether you've done enough to stay in God's good graces, come back to this truth. God's promise to you is not fragile. It is not conditional. It is not waiting on your next good decision to hold together. What God has promised, He will keep. Full stop. That is the kind of God we serve, and that is the kind of gospel we get to believe.
Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham.
And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify[a] the Gentiles by faith,
preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.”
So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. - Galatians 3:7-9

Father, thank You that Your promises are not built on my performance but on Your faithfulness. Help me to trust You fully today, not because I have earned it, but because You have guaranteed it. Amen.
