When we hear the word blessing, our minds often jump to health, comfort, or financial provision. Those things aren't bad, but they fall far short of what God actually promised Abraham. The blessing at the heart of God's covenant is something far greater. It is the presence and favor of God Himself. This thread runs through the entire Bible. In Leviticus, God promised to dwell among His people. The Psalms overflow with the joy of being near Him. Revelation closes with God making His home with humanity forever. This is what you were made for. Not just a better life, but a life lived in the nearness of God. Think about the people in your life whose presence genuinely brings you peace and joy. Now consider that God, the Creator of everything, desires that kind of closeness with you. Not because you've earned it, but because He promised it. The blessing promised through Abraham's offspring, Jesus Christ, is ultimately this: you get God. His presence. His favor. His joy. And nothing about your performance this week changes that reality for those who believe.
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy;

Lord, forgive me for settling for lesser blessings when You have offered me Yourself. Draw me into Your presence today and let that be enough. Amen.
