Day 3: The Treasure That Changes Everything
Devotional
When someone discovers something truly valuable, it changes their priorities. Think about the merchant in Jesus' parable who found a pearl of great value. He didn't just admire it—he sold everything he had to obtain it. The pearl's worth completely reordered his priorities. Finding Jesus isn't just about discovering something interesting to add to your life. It's about encountering someone so valuable that everything else finds its proper place in relation to Him. When we truly see Jesus for who He is, our priorities naturally shift. Some people try to add Jesus to their lives like another self-help book on the shelf—something helpful but not central. But Jesus doesn't want to be just another part of your life; He wants to be the treasure that defines everything else. When Jesus becomes your greatest treasure, something remarkable happens. Your money, possessions, relationships, and achievements find their proper place. You don't have to love them less; you simply love Jesus more. The amazing thing about the treasure of Jesus is that no one who has truly found Him has ever asked for a refund. He fully satisfies in a way nothing else can. While the treasures of this world fade like waves on the shore, Jesus remains forever. Today, consider: Is Jesus your treasure that changes everything, or just another addition to your life?
Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.
For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ - Philippians 3:8
Reflection Question
What would change in your life if Jesus truly became your greatest treasure, more valuable than anything else?
“Finding Jesus isn't just like discovering something interesting.
It's like discovering something so valuable that it changes everything that you care about
and everything that you live for.”
~Pastor Mike Mura
Prayer
God of hope, I confess I've often treated Jesus as just another good thing in my life rather than my greatest treasure. Transform my heart so that I value Him above everything else. Fill me with joy and peace as I trust Him more deeply. Help me to overflow with hope as my priorities align with Your kingdom. Amen.
