Day 5: The Same Fuel, Every Day

There is a temptation in the Christian life to think of grace as the beginning. You trusted Christ, your sins were forgiven, and now the real work begins. From here, it is up to you to grow, improve, and become the person God wants you to be through discipline and effort. But that is not the gospel. That is just a more religious version of the same self-reliance you had before. Paul makes it clear in Galatians 2 that the faith that justified you is the same faith that sustains you. The same trust you placed in Christ on the day you were saved is the same trust that carries you through every ordinary Tuesday, every hard season, every moment of failure and every moment of faithfulness. Grace is not chapter one. It is every chapter. This is genuinely freeing. You do not have to figure out when to stop relying on Christ and start relying on yourself. You never stop. The question you bring to every day is not whether you are doing enough. It is whether you are trusting enough. Christ ran into the fire for you. He did not do that, so you could spend the rest of your life trying to pay Him back through performance. He did it so you could live in joyful, daily dependence on Him, from the first day of your faith to the last. Receive that today. Rest in it. And let it fuel everything.
But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners,

How would your daily life look different if you approached every moment as an opportunity to trust Christ rather than as a test of how well you are performing for Him?

Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your grace is not just where I started but where I live every single day. Help me to stop striving and start trusting, and to find my joy in You rather than in my own progress. Amen.
