Day 2: Don't Rebuild What Grace Tore Down

It is one of the most subtle traps in the Christian life. You sing about grace on Sunday morning, genuinely moved by what Christ has done. Then Monday arrives, and without even realizing it, you start keeping score. How many times did you pray this week? Did you read your Bible? Were you patient with your kids? And slowly, quietly, your sense of acceptance with God rises and falls with your performance. Paul saw this same pattern in Peter and called it out directly. Peter knew the gospel. He had walked with Jesus. But when pressure came, he pulled back and started living as though his standing depended on something other than Christ. Paul's word for that is not a small mistake. It is a return to a system that was never able to save anyone. Here is the encouragement in that correction. If you have been quietly rebuilding that old system in your own life, today is a good day to stop. Not by trying harder, but by returning to Christ by faith. The distance you may be feeling from God is not a signal to double down on discipline. It is an invitation to come back to the One who already made you right with God. Grace is not the starting line of the Christian life. It is the entire track. You do not graduate from it. You run in it, every single day.

Lord, forgive me for the times I have treated Your grace as a starting point rather than my constant foundation. Draw me back to Christ today and remind me that He is enough. Amen.
