The Other Side of the Storm: Day 3
Day 3: From Receiver to Giver
Devotional
Paul had just survived a violent storm and shipwreck. He was exhausted, cold, and technically a prisoner. Yet instead of focusing on his own recovery, he immediately began serving others. When a snake bit him, he simply shook it off and continued helping. Soon, he was healing the sick and blessing an entire community. This reveals something profound about how God works through our trials. He doesn't rescue us just so we can retreat into comfort. He brings us through storms to transform us from people who need help into people who can help others. Your past pain becomes your present purpose. The comfort you received in your darkest hour becomes the comfort you can offer someone else in theirs. God wastes nothing - not even your worst experiences. They become the very tools He uses to make you a blessing to others. The question isn't whether you'll face difficulties, but whether you'll let those difficulties drive you to become a blessing to others.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction,
so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction,
with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Reflection Question
How has a past struggle equipped you to help someone else going through something similar?
“After everything that Paul's been through, the storm, the shipwreck, the exhaustion,
he's not looking for a hammock and a drink with an umbrella in it. He's looking for a way to serve.”
— Pastor Mike Mura
Prayer
Lord, transform my trials into tools for blessing others. Help me see how my experiences can become a source of hope and healing for those around me.
