The Other Side of the Storm: Day 2
Day 2: Unexpected Kindness
Devotional
After Paul's shipwreck, exhausted prisoners found themselves on an unfamiliar shore. What they discovered was remarkable - complete strangers showing extraordinary kindness without expecting anything in return. The Maltese natives built fires, provided shelter, and cared for people they'd never met. This wasn't a coincidence; it was God's common grace at work. Sometimes God uses the most unexpected people to show us His kindness. The coworker who brings you coffee during a tough week, the neighbor who offers help without being asked, the stranger who holds the door with a genuine smile - these aren't random acts. They're glimpses of God's character flowing through ordinary people. When we're coming out of our own storms, we need to have eyes to see these gifts. God often restores our faith in humanity and reminds us of His goodness through the kindness of others, even those who may not share our beliefs.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. - James 1:17
Reflection Question
When has God shown you unexpected kindness through someone you didn't expect, and how did it impact your perspective on His care for you?
“When something is truly good, truly beautiful, truly helpful,
the Bible says this ultimately comes to us from God.“ — Pastor Mike Mura
Prayer
Father, open my eyes to see Your kindness flowing through the people around me. Help me recognize Your hand at work in both big and small acts of love.
