The Pressure Test: Day 1
Day 1: What's Really Inside?
Devotional
Have you ever squeezed a tube of toothpaste and been surprised by what came out? Of course not - toothpaste always comes out because that's what's inside. The same principle applies to our hearts. When life squeezes us through difficult circumstances, whatever truly rules our hearts is what emerges. We might think we're patient people until we're stuck in traffic. We might believe we're generous until money gets tight. We might assume we're humble until someone criticizes us publicly. Pressure doesn't create character flaws or virtues - it simply reveals what was already there. This revelation, though sometimes uncomfortable, is actually a gift. It shows us where we need to grow and what areas of our hearts need Christ's transforming work. Instead of being discouraged when pressure exposes our weaknesses, we can be grateful for the clarity it brings.
The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good,
and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil,
for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. - Luke 6:45
Reflection Question
What has recent pressure in your life revealed about what truly rules your heart?
Pressure doesn't create what's inside of us. Pressure reveals it.” — Pastor Mike Mura
Prayer
Lord, help me welcome the pressure in my life as an opportunity to see my heart clearly. Give me courage to face what's revealed and surrender it to You.
