The Pressure Test: Day 5
Day 5: Pressure as Purpose
Devotional
Here's the beautiful truth: when we're cornered, God is not. Even when evil people plot against us or circumstances seem to spiral out of control, God is advancing His saving purposes. Paul's imprisonment wasn't a setback - it was a setup. Through this trial, God positioned Paul exactly where he needed to be to witness in Rome and write letters that would encourage believers for centuries. When pressure reveals ugliness in our hearts, we don't need to despair. That shame can drive us to the cross, where there's no condemnation in Christ. When pressure exposes our weaknesses, it creates opportunities for God's strength to shine through us. When pressure threatens to overwhelm us, it reminds us that true freedom comes not from controlling our circumstances but from letting Christ rule our hearts. Don't waste the pressure in your life. Let it push you closer to Christ, where you'll discover that surrendering control actually sets you free.
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good,
to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. - Genesis 50:20
