The Pressure Test: Day 4

Sermon Video

Day 4: Christ Above All

Devotional
Paul's response to pressure reveals a heart completely surrendered to Christ. Facing false accusations, imprisonment, and an uncertain future, he didn't panic or compromise. His appeal to Caesar wasn't desperation - it was discernment. Paul understood that following Christ means dying daily to our own desires for safety, comfort, and control. A cross isn't a pretty piece of jewelry; it's an instrument of death. When Christ truly rules our hearts, we're willing to lose everything else - safety, freedom, reputation, even life itself - rather than deny Him. This doesn't mean we're reckless or seek out suffering. It means we trust that true life isn't found in self-preservation but in surrendering to the One who surrendered His life for us. Paul's example shows us what it looks like when Christ reigns supreme in a human heart. Under pressure, love for Jesus becomes unmistakable, unshakeable, and undeniable.

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. - Luke 9:23
