The Pressure Test: Day 3
Day 3: The Compromise Calculation
Devotional
Compromise rarely begins with dramatic moral failure. Instead, it starts with small calculations - weighing what we might lose against what we might gain. Governor Festus knew Paul was innocent, yet he was willing to sacrifice justice for political stability. His heart was ruled by the need for approval and career preservation. This is how compromise begins in our lives too. We start calculating: "What will people think if I stand up for what's right? Will this hurt my reputation? My relationships? My opportunities?" Before we know it, we're making decisions based on fear rather than faith. When approval becomes our ultimate goal, integrity becomes negotiable. And once integrity becomes negotiable, justice becomes optional. The path from small compromises to major moral failures is shorter than we think. But there's hope: recognizing these calculations in our hearts allows us to choose a different path - one where Christ's approval matters more than anyone else's.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus - Romans 8:1
