Day 2: The Purpose in Our Pain

Devotional
Sometimes we question why God allows suffering in our lives, especially when we're trying to serve Him faithfully. Yet, there's a profound truth we often overlook: our trials aren't meaningless. Every challenge, every difficulty, and every painful experience has purpose. When we suffer while following Christ, we're not just enduring hardship - we're being transformed. This transformation doesn't make the pain easier, but it gives it meaning. We're becoming more like Christ, whose own suffering brought about the greatest redemption story ever told.

"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.  And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." - James 1:2-4

Reflection Question
How has God used challenging circumstances in your life to shape your character and deepen your faith?

Christianity doesn't say you better suffer well so that you can make it to heaven.
What Christianity does say is that Jesus Christ suffered not so that you might never suffer,
but so that when you suffer, you become more like Him.

Prayer
Father, help me trust that You're working through my struggles for my good and Your glory. Give me the strength to embrace the transforming work You're doing in my life, even when it's difficult. Amen.
