God at Work — Day 3
Day 3: Heart-Opening Grace
Devotional
We often feel pressure to find just the right words when sharing our faith, thinking the response depends entirely on our eloquence or persuasion. But the beautiful truth is that while we speak, Jesus works. He alone has the power to open hearts to receive His truth. This reality brings both humility and freedom - humility because we can't take credit for transformed lives, and freedom because the results don't depend on our perfect presentation. Our role is simply to faithfully share His message, trusting Him to do the heart-changing work only He can do.
One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. - Acts 16:14
Reflection Question
How does knowing that Jesus opens hearts change your approach to sharing your faith with others?
“Lydia believed not because Paul was so eloquent, but because God opened her heart.
And this means that salvation is ultimately God's work, not ours.
Only He can open blind eyes and soften hard hearts and draw people to faith in Jesus.”
