Real Belonging Day 4
Day 4: The Church: God's Central Story
Life often feels like walking into a movie late, leaving us living according to limited narratives shaped by past experiences and hurts. These small stories keep us focused on ourselves, our control, and our abilities, often rooted in pain or fear. God's larger story reveals how He works through His church to accomplish His purposes. Moving from our small stories to God's grand narrative involves recognizing broken narratives, embracing vulnerability, experiencing God's love through His people, and letting go of control. Through this journey, we can find our place in God's greater purpose and understand our true identity as His chosen people.

Devotional
In our individualistic culture, it's easy to see the church as just one part of our lives among many. However, God's perspective is radically different. The church isn't just another organization or weekly commitment - it's the very body of Christ, central to God's work in the world. When we understand this truth, our participation in church life transforms from obligation to privilege, from peripheral to essential.
to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
- Ephesians 3:21
Reflection Question
How does seeing the church as central to God's work, rather than peripheral, change your approach to church involvement?
The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world.
The world is peripheral to the church.
The church is Christ's body in which he speaks and acts,
by which he fills everything with his presence.
~ Sean Stewart
Prayer
Lord, help me see Your church as You see it. Show me my place in Your body and help me contribute to Your work in the world through Your church. Amen.
